How To Get Your Life When You Feel Lost

I. Am. Still. Trying. To. Figure. It. Out.

Everyday is a challenge.

No, seriously.

A multitude of things has happened during my time away from my blogging safe haven. I am finishing up the final touches of redecorating my room. My heart was broken. I booked a vacation rental to Costa Rica for my 23rd birthday. My heart was broken again lol. I lost my voice. I stopped writing. I began to feel very uninspired. I re-found my voice. I wrote. A lot. I realigned my goals. My laptop broke – which ultimately stopped me from blogging to you all about all the things that I’ve been dealing with. I got a new laptop. I started to revisit the world of dating -yass honey! I started my natural body butters. I’ve been learning and experimenting with new jewelry designs and finding ways to better myself and my craft. I tried being vegan for a week. I realized that I can only be vegan for a week and the pescatarian lifestyle is for me lol. I also realized that my working environment isn’t one that makes me happy. Realized that a part of the reason that it is so hard to steadily be happy and journey on towards peace is because I am surrounded by more negative things, people and places than I thought. I realized that I need to separate myself from those things now more than ever for the sake of my mental health, clarity and continuous path to self love. Oh, I need a new job guys. This is FACTS. I’m actively looking. However, I also realized that my true goal is to work for myself. Aside from that, I also had to remind myself that even during my times of doubt and frustration that I am an extraordinary, exceptional, brilliant and beautiful human being. So for the time I was away ….. I laughed, I cried, I learned … and realized that I am a confused, beautiful but … seriously a confused mess and I need to get my life.

Yes, you read that long ass paragraph only for it to end with “I’m confused”. I am lost in translation. Swept up in thoughts of how to make myself a better person than I was yesterday and caught between making those around me happy, helping out where I can and perfecting my craft and writing and re-finding my voice and just wanting some plain old love and attention!

If the title has compelled you to read this then you’re probably waiting for the part where I give a list of proper advice about how to get ya life! Listen, this is one time where I am just as lost as you. No proper advice over here just the beginning phases of life getting that I went through, lol.

During my time away I learned that the best way to start is to identify the problem. The source of stress. Source of sadness, hindrance, confusion etc. For me, that was identifying that I felt stuck, stagnant and complacent.

Then I stopped in my tracks and thought about why I felt this way. I’ve been out of college for over a year now. I don’t have a job in my field. I gave up a year of my life to help out someone who doesn’t seem to appreciate it. My business has been open for a year and I feel like it should be bigger than it is (while I do know these things take patience, time, hard work and dedication). A relationship that I thought was going to flourish in every sense of the word … failed. I couldn’t hold on to money. Felt like important people in my life weren’t matching the effort in which I give them (this still holds true but this is for another post lol). Oh man, and so much more.

I cried. Then I cried some more. I let out a rage of emotions.

Then I snapped out of it.

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, it won’t surprise you that I then made a list.

I made a list of goals. Then I prioritized them. Then I made a list of how to accomplish them. I made a list of my feelings. Then I made a list of how to work through each one.

I consoled myself. Because at 2 a.m when you feel like the world is crashing down on you and there’s no one you can call .. you’re all you have. And even when you feel like you deserve more than that or you don’t feel like that’s not enough … YOU HAVE TO BE ENOUGH FOR YOU. No matter what.

I revisited yoga and different breathing practices. Because during this time, I stopped and I could feel the tension rising within me.

I prayed. I’m not religious in any sense of the word but I believe in a higher power and I find solace in talking to that being.

I woke up one morning and I decided that I could no longer let my feelings of complacency stop me from being motivated and taking charge of my life.

I woke up that same morning grateful that I have been given another chance to make things right & to be my best self.

I applied to jobs. I read a little. Put on a face mask. Laughed. Facetimed bae and told myself that the following days would be different.

I spoke my goals into existence and I have been doing it since that morning.

Then I smiled because the only place to go from here is up. There will be a few more bad patches along the way -I know. There will be more times, when I’m feeling less grateful and less blissful, more discouraged, more frustrated but I know that I will overcome it. As I stated before, I am an extraordinary, beautiful, intelligent, confused mess and I realized if it wasn’t so, I wouldn’t be me and I couldn’t and wouldn’t have it any other way.

& CHECK .. there you have it, in the midst of all things confusing, ya girl has begun to get her life.

You guys have been with me as I’ve started to eat healthy and just really dive into a healthy lifestyle. One problem that I face with this is that sometimes I get so bored because (to me) it seems like the choices I have (to eat) are limited. I mean, I really don’t eat dairy at all anymore, I’m trying to cut out meat as much as possible and so many things that we think are healthy .. I’m learning that they just aren’t!

After being frustrated with my lack of options, I started to look up healthy recipes. As I searched through google and various cooking sites, the ‘healthy’ recipes I saw weren’t healthy at all. C’monnnnn a lot of them had PORK (I do not eat pork – never have never will, ew. No offense) and I kept thinking to myself – ‘on what planet is pork healthy bro’. So not only was I not finding what I was looking for but I also felt like I couldn’t trust those sites.

After my frustration got the best of me, I headed to Facebook just to skim through some posts and forget about the horrid recipes that I saw. At that moment I saw a post from a girl who is very much into fitness, knows about alkaline foods and diets and is just an all around healthy individual. If you don’t know hat alkaline foods are, that is another post for another time. Just know that alkaline foods are what we need to live an all around healthy life (in terms of eating -that is). In the comments section of her post, someone asked how she came up with different recipes and pretty much just asked her for advice. So you know, now my eyes are PEELED to the screen. Lol. Anyways she recommended an app and now I want to recommend it to you.

The name of the app is

I am not sure if it is available on androids, but have no fear because I literally just found the website!

I have been using this app for about 3 weeks and I LOVE IT! It’s reminiscent of a Facebook news feed with just an abundance of different recipes. You can pile your favorite recipes into different categories and can even create a shopping list of items that you would need for each recipe.

However, my favorite part is that you tailor your profile to fit your needs. So upon downloading the app, you will be asked what kind of ‘diet’ you are on, what foods you don’t like, what allergies you may have and things of that nature.

This app has been such a help. I have been able to make Zucchini fries, different wraps and seafood entrees! I can’t wait to make even more things and share them with you all!

The Parasite Update …

During my two weeks of solitude, I began (and completed) my first try at the parasite cleanse. I didn’t use all the methods but I did

  • use the Papaya seeds for 5 days
  • eat garlic – maybe not 3 times a day but still this was my first time !
  • coconut oil
  • and carrots

Along with these methods, I stayed away from alcohol (wine, especially!), coffee and sweets. I also incorporated more water than usual in to my diet.

I did try the cloves one day and honestly .. I felt like I was suffocating. It was NOT sexy at all. Lol I am never doing that again. But the other methods I tried had very positive results. I don’t really crave sweets as much, my cold seemed to instantly go away, I feel more vibrant and awake and trust me the list goes on!

I plan to do another cleanse in the next few months and my goal is to do that every 3/4 months just so that those parasites aren’t coming back.

I highly suggest doing this cleanse !

The Parasite Cleanse

The health section of my blog has definitely been neglected – but with good reason! I didn’t want to put out posts and information if I wasn’t following it myself. That wouldn’t be fair to the readers of my blog or to me.

Over the past few weeks, I definitely have made some changes to my diet. I was never the person that ate tons of sweets and/or salts nor was I the person that ate things that are terribly bad for you. However, I was that person that ate too much bread and didn’t eat enough vegetables and fruits. So, I started incorporating these things into my diet via smoothies and researching health recipes. I also incorporated more fish into my meals and lessened my meat intake (which I hope to completely eliminate from my diet). I even swapped out rice for grains such as cous cous and quinoa.

I was also previously aware of Dr.Sebi’s nutritional guide and therefore took that into consideration as I am (still) making the transition to eating healthier. It is definitely a process that I do not intend to rush. I want to make sure that I do everything proficiently and would prefer to continue the learning process and take it one step at a time.
*If you don’t know who Dr. Sebi is that is surely a post for another time, but let’s just say in the health and all things natural world he is a king!*

With that being said, it is a beautiful thing when you decide to make the transition to live a healthier lifestyle from the inside out. But it isn’t so good when you don’t detox or cleanse your body beforehand. With every bad thing that we have ever put into our body, we risk the exposure to harmful bacteria and parasites. These parasites live off of our intestinal walls and feed on everything harmful that we put into our bodies. So, sometimes starting that transition doesn’t really help our body because those parasites are still lurking.

When I found this out ….. I was literally disgusted. I had always watched those shows on TLC about people that traveled to foreign countries and came back with deadly parasites (most times caused by mosquito bites). Unfortunately, I would judge those people and think that they were “dirty”. I was ignorant to the fact that, that is not the only way that you can contract parasites and we all pretty much have them. Parasites can also be contracted through raw or uncooked food (such as SUSHI!, beef and even chicken), water, sexual contact, poor hygiene and also through the nose and skin. That’s crazy, right?!?!?!

Just know if it you think you may not have parasites .. you probably do.

Here are some of the most common symptoms (to determine if you have parasites) I found:

  • Excessive gas or bloating
  • Constant fatigue or weakness
  • Stomach pain and tenderness
  • Itching around the rectal area
  • Constant Illness
  • Sores on your mouth or lip / White spots inside of your mouth
  • Toe fungus
  • Reoccurring bladder infections
  • Reoccurring yeast infections (for females)
  • Excessive craving of sweet and/or starchy foods
  • Psoriasis or eczema
  • Anxiety
  • Muscle pains
  • Menstrual irregularities (for females)
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Restlessness
  • Anemia
  • Constant Headaches
    & More

If you have any of these symptoms there is nothing to be ashamed of. I found myself looking over the symptoms like

“Maybe that’s why I’m anemic!”
“Please, I don’t want headaches no more!”
“Being  bloated in not cute!”
“Damn! I AM ALWAYS sick!!”

To add on, I do have eczema, my menstrual pains make me want to punch everyone, I can become restless and sometimes I can have a 9 hour sleep and still wake up and feel very tired and weak.

It’s time to make a change!

That is how I decided that I NEEDED to try some all natural (of course) parasites cleanses.
Below I am going to list a few cleanses that I think would be good for us all to try. Every cleanse that I do include I have researched to see the benefits and to see how people reacted to them. These are the most popular, frequent and highly favored ones that I found! I would encourage all to do your research as well!

  • Papaya Seeds – Take a tablespoon of Papaya seeds and swallow them whole with a glass of water (If you are brave, you may chew them). It is best if you do this on an empty stomach and when you do not have to go outside. Within a few hours you are going to need to use the bathroom. In your stool you should see many little white ‘dots’. That is indeed the parasites! It is recommended that you do this for 5 consecutive days to really get that full effect.
  • Garlic – Garlic is good for many things! Not only is it good for cleansing and detoxifying your body but it also combats the common cold (among many other things – I guess we can leave that for another post).
    You can take 2 cloves of garlic with a glass of water and swallow them whole (or you may chew them). It is recommended to do this 3 times a day or right before every meal. It is also recommended that you do this everyday or as often as possible because Garlic has many healing properties.
  • Coconut – It is said that coconut might be the most effective home cure to treat intestinal worms. It is recommended to take one tablespoon of freshly ground coconut at breakfast, followed by 30 to 60ml of castor oil mixed in a glass of lukewarm milk three hours later. This is also something that is recommended for daily usage. Especially the consumption of castor oil (as that has many healing properties as well). However, being that milk is not an all natural substance .. when I do try this cleanse I will not be using milk.
  • Coconut Oil – Sources say that you should ingest 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil daily. You can do this as a cleanse on it’s own. Or you can combine it with the freshly ground coconut method listed just above.
  • Carrot – Carrots are said to be able to destroy the eggs of intestinal worms and also keep the parasites from coming back. It is also said that they are vital in protecting the immune system which is important for fighting off these parasites. So, grate two carrots in the morning and enjoy that as your breakfast. Do this everyday for a week. Make sure that you are doing this on an empty stomach and try not to eat anything else during the morning.
  • Cloves – Cloves have antiseptic, bactericidal and anti-parasitic properties that help destroy parasitic eggs and kill intestinal worms within the body. Plus, cloves can help prevent future episodes of infestation. Add one teaspoon of powdered clove to a cup of hot water. Cover the cup and allow that to sit for at least 15 minutes. Drink and try to enjoy. Do this 3 times a day for a week. If you have a Nutri Bullet you can make the powdered cloves yourself. Just a heads up! You can also take 2-3 cloves daily if you are not willing to make the drink.
  • Turmeric – Now I’ll be honest. I haven’t seen much information discussing why Turmeric is good as a parasitic cleanse, but I do know that Turmeric is said to be a natural healer for many health problems. So I figured you really can’t go wrong here. For this cleanse you add one-half teaspoon of Turmeric powder and a pinch of salt to one-half cup of warm water and drink it daily for five days.
  • Pumpkin seeds – So you a mix ground pumpkin seeds with water and drink that. This is said to specifically target tapeworms.

Now there are other cleanses, for example:

Dried oregano and especially essential oil of oregano are extremely anti-parasitic.
Use two to three drops of oregano oil in water with fresh squeezed lime and drink this three times a day.
Ginger, wormwood, black walnut are also commonly used in anti-parasitic strategies.
Cinnamon is also a natural remedy for parasites and fungus. Take ½ tsp of cinnamon powder in water up to three times a day.

Last pointers and tips:

-Parasitic cleanses (as well as any transition your body makes) takes a toll on your body.  During this process, it is highly important that you support your body as much as possible with regular exercise, good diet, adequate sleep, and limiting exposure to toxins.

-While doing this cleanse try to avoid things like coffee, refined sugars, refined foods and alcohol.

-Try making yourself a detox bath. I have tried it and I will say that it is very refreshing and it removes toxins through the skin. There are many detox bath recipes, but my favorite might be, Lavender Epsom Salt, Apple Cider Vinegar, Ginger, Baking Powder, Peppermint Oil and Eucalyptus Oil. Please feel free to look some up on your own and add different mixtures to see what works for you.

-Drinking enough water will help flush die off toxins out faster, and adequate sleep will give the body enough time to regenerate.

Stress, Stress Go Away. Come Back …. NEVER !

Welp, I’ve been M.I.A from my blogging world for a little while now. And I don’t want to make excuses but it’s because of stress! It’s only getting worse too … because Finals Week is around the corner, which means studying, which means more stress and I’m graduating which adds extra stress and preparing for the Pace Psychology Conference is just stress stress stress and don’t forget the stress of being a broke college student added to the stress of applying to graduate schools. STRESS!

Well because of the stress that I have been dealing with, I decided that I should compile a list of ways to deal with stress .. because well if I’m dealing with this much stress, I could only imagine what some of you may be dealing with. And quite frankly, I don’t have very good coping mechanisms for dealing with stress.

Anyways here’s what I came up with:

Identify the source of your stress and decide how you must deal with it


The first step to dealing with your stress is to identify what exactly is causing you to stress out. It could be anything; becoming a new parent, school, money, relationships, acne .. anything really. After doing that, it’s up to you to sit back and think of the right way to deal with it. I always tell people that there are really 2 ways to tackle things like this and they are 1) To accept it and decide to move forward and not let whatever it is hinder your growth or progression OR 2) To decide to change whatever it is and move forward. Either way you’re moving forward and that is what’s important. Once you’ve figured out which one is suitable for you, you’ve accomplished what most consider to be the hard part.

Make a “To Do List”


I’ve found that when I plan out my day, week and month that life seems to be a bit more organized. It’s really easy to become lost in work and school that you forget to make time for yourself. For example, planning out the time and date of each one of my finals has helped me organize when I should study for a specific final. It doesn’t only work with school but when it comes to work, friends, family, extracurricular activities and (most importantly) your alone time, making a “To Do List” can really be beneficial.

Make time for things that make you happy

This one is really simple. Sleep, Read, Hang out with friends .. do whatever.
Sometimes we get so worked up over things that need to get done that we lose sight of our other needs. You’ll begin to see improvement once you start taking time out to do things that make you genuinely happy (even if it’s just one day a week).

Find a positive support system


This is probably one of the best things that you can do. Get a good support system. It can be friends, family, co-workers, blogs (wink wink), internet friends (I don’t know, whatever your thing is). The point is, that no one wants or needs negative people in their lives. You need people around you that are going to help reduce the stress in your life and tell you when it’s time to take a break and re-focus your priorities.

Focus on the positive things going on in your life


This may be one of the hardest things for me to do. When I get stressed out, I become the ultimate downer. Which is just bad. Sometimes it feels as though I can’t help it but that’s not much of an excuse and I’m trying to learn that. It helps to focus on ANYTHING that you find positive going on in your life. Whether it be something small or big, positive is positive. If you can’t think of anything just be thankful that you woke up this morning ! 🙂

Talk about it/Write about it/ Just voice it


This speaks for itself. Find a way to express how you’re feeling. Either talk about it with someone, get a journal and write it down, scream … listen just find a way to voice how you feel! Trust me it will make you feel better.

Live a healthy life

This isn’t the hardest for me to do but mannnnnnn it’s my least favorite! Lmao. Too bad it really does help. Eating healthy, just makes you feel gooooodddddd. It gives you energy, better rationale and insight on how to deal with things. Adding exercise to that only helps with releasing that pent up frustration, anxiety, and anger.

Try Yoga

This ties into living a healthy life but I suppose this is more subtle. Lol. If exercise isn’t your thing (ehem, points to self) then try yoga. If you’re really brave, you’ll even try hot yoga (which is amazing, just saying!) Check out this website if you want to learn more ways that yoga helps improve your daily life.

Meditate and/or Breathing Techniques

I’ve never really gotten into meditation but I do know many people who have and it has helped them. Recently my boyfriend has been continuously (like he won’t shut up) about mindfulness meditation and so I finally decided to do my own research and look it up. It is the Buddhist practice that involves intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of your attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment. Basically, focus on ‘the right now’. I found this really cool article that explains it more in depth and that will give you better understanding if you are interested. I also found this awesome video on YouTube if you decide to try it out.

Just Relax/Take A Break

Sometimes we just forget to relax. To me, this is the most important thing. Sometimes, you just have to stop what you are doing, breathe, stop thinking so hard, and relax. It’s during these times that you need to take a break from not only what is stressing you out but from everything. Trust me, the feeling of not worrying about ANYTHING will make you feel a little bit better. It’s only a starting point, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Sometimes, it feels like it’s the end of the world when you’re stressed out but it’s not. You just have to find ways to handle these things that seem to be taking over your life. Whether it be lack of money, work, school or relationship problems .. figuring out a healthy way to deal with your stress can dramatically help you. It’s just up to you to decide that you’re worthy of getting yourself that help. I hope that these tips do help you whether it be now or in the future.
